Lighthouses & Lakeboats
Books by
Wes Oleszewski
|
|
| Wes Oleszewski’s sixth book
is a great departure from his previous work. “Great Lakes Lighthouses,
American & Canadian” was the brain-child of the folks at Avery.
Their goal was to create the complete guide to all of the lighthouses
on the Great Lakes with photos and a brief history of each while allowing
the reader to catalog their individual visit to each site. In order
to make the project happen, Avery turned to their prolific Great Lakes
author, Wes Oleszewski. |

This text contains a listing
of more than 300 lighthouse sites and is categorized by lake. Each
page has a set of three photos, one each of three different lights.
Additionally, there are important statistics of each light and a detailed
guide of how to get to the light and the best way to access the site.
|
| Writing a “list” book was about as
close to this author’s style as would be writing a cook book, and
so he could not resist including some true tales and historical narratives
of some of the lights that are listed. Thus, not only is this the
only complete compilation of these sites, but is also a small treasure
of lighthouse history as well. |

Noted Great Lakes Lighthouse photographer
Wayne Sapulski provided all of the photos used in this book and
has captured some rare images. His work makes this book a “must”
for every lighthouse buff anywhere.
“Great Lakes Lighthouses, American
& Canadian was released by Avery in 1998 and became an instant
hit with demand outpacing any book that the publisher had produced
prior. The book is 202 pages long and includes maps and drawings.
